The "H" stands for... THEATRE ARTIST! 

 

 

 

 

H. Russ Brown is a Theatre Artist / Educator 

currently serving as Head of Theatre / Artistic Director for the College of the Mainland Theatre Program in Texas City, TX. He has also served in the past as the Society of American Fight Director’s (SAFD) Governing Body Secretary and as Coordinator of the National Stage Combat Workshop (EXCELSIOR!).  His areas of Performance Expertise include Acting, Musical Theatre, Playwriting, Voice/Dialects, Movement & Stage Combat.  He is also a gifted Scenic, Prop and Costume Designer as well as a highly trained and accomplished Graphic Artist.


H. Russ began his career over 30 years ago in his native Texas. He has worked professionally across the country in the theatre as an actor, director, set designer, vocal/movement coach, fight director and nationally award-winning playwright.   He has choreographed violence for over 100 productions and his fight work has been seen from New York to California and back again.


H. Russ has taught/guest lectured at the University of Missouri-Columbia, the University of Houston, Texas Tech University, Illinois State University, North Carolina School of the Arts, Ball State University, Lon Morris College, Nicolet College, Spoon River College, Elgin Community College, Roosevelt University and Western Illinois University – to name a few.  He holds an M.F.A. degree in Acting from Western Illinois University.


His greatest achievement, though, is his marriage to his wife, Elizabeth, and his two amazing kids, Grant and Auben.
